The Federal Council presents its objectives for 2027

President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin outlined to the Council of States the Government’s priorities for the coming year, which is the fourth year of the 2023–2027 legislative term. Each year, the Federal Council sets concrete, measurable objectives in order to plan its activities and evaluate their implementation in the management report for the corresponding year.

To increase Switzerland’s attractiveness as a business location, the Federal Council will adopt the message on Location Promotion 2028–2031 in 2027. It will also decide on the financial parameters for multi-year financial decisions of major significance with regard to the forthcoming legislative term. In the transport sector, by adopting the message «Verkehr ‘45» (Transport ‘45), it aims to coordinate the further development of rail, road and agglomeration transport. In addition, in the area of social security, it will adopt the messages on reforming Old-Age and Survivors’ Insurance («AHV 2030»; OASI 2030) and on integration reform in Invalidity Insurance. It also aims to adopt the strategy against domestic, sexualised and gender-based violence and Switzerland’s updated strategy for combating terrorism. To strengthen cooperation in responding to unforeseeable events, the Federal Council plans to adopt the message on accession to the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM). With the message on Agricultural Policy 2030+, it will set the agricultural policy framework at legislative level for eight years. Furthermore, in 2027 it will set climate policy after 2030 as part of the message on a revision of the CO2 Act.
