Referendum against the Economic Partnership Agreement between the EFTA States and Malaysia has been triggered

The referendum against the Federal Decree approving the Economic Partnership Agreement between the EFTA States and Malaysia has been triggered.

On 5 October 2026, the referendum committee submitted 60 347 signatures against the Federal Decree of 19 June 2026 approving the Economic Partnership Agreement between the EFTA States and Malaysia. The verification by the Federal Chancellery established that 59 866 of the submitted signatures are valid. The referendum has thus formally been triggered.
