26.4147 – Climate change: the situation in schools

· Bundesklar Redaktion

Climate change is leading to a marked increase in hot days and tropical nights in Switzerland. The climate risk analysis of the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) classifies health impairments resulting from heat as Switzerland’s greatest climate risk. This development also affects schools, day-care centres and school-based care facilities, which have an educational and care mandate towards children and young people, who are particularly vulnerable to heat stress.
