26.7696 – Swiss funding for FIFA football pitches in the West Bank
Fabian Molina writes in submitted question 26.7696: «Das EDA unterstützte die FIFA im November 2025 mit 120’000 Franken für den Bau von Fussballplätzen im Westjordanland, während israelische Streitkräfte dort palästinensische zivile Infrastruktur zerstören. Wie rechtfertigt der Bundesrat den Einsatz von Steuergeldern für solche Bauprojekte, und welche Massnahmen stellen sicher, dass diese nicht faktisch zur Normalisierung oder Absicherung der israelischen Siedlungspolitik beitragen?» (Translation: «In November 2025, the FDFA supported FIFA with CHF 120,000 for the construction of football pitches in the West Bank, while Israeli forces are destroying Palestinian civilian infrastructure there. How does the Federal Council justify the use of public funds for such construction projects, and what measures ensure that they do not in fact contribute to normalising or safeguarding Israeli settlement policy?»)
