The Swiss National Accident Insurance Fund (Suva) performs tasks on behalf of the Confederation. The law grants it considerable independence in doing so. It is therefore organised as an autonomous institution under public law and is not part of the Federal Administration. However, Suva is subject to the oversight of the Federal Council. Federal oversight of Suva: Commission identifies isolated need for improvement
In its review of the expediency and legality of the oversight activities exercised by the Federal Council and the Federal Administration over Suva, the CC-N reaches a predominantly positive conclusion. However, it also identifies an isolated need for action or review: this concerns the scope of oversight activities, the election of the Suva Board, and the tasks and responsibilities of the Confederation’s representatives on the Suva Board. The Commission has submitted corresponding recommendations to the Federal Council.
