As part of the country programme for Ukraine, Switzerland is already financing projects by Swiss companies to strengthen the resilience of the war-torn country. On 2 October 2026, the Federal Council approved eight additional projects in the fields of energy, public transport and water, with funding of 135 million Swiss francs.
The projects aim to address Ukraine’s urgent needs through Swiss products and expertise. They are also intended to safeguard and create jobs, and to strengthen local skills through a training component and Swiss expertise. At the same time, the projects enable Swiss companies to strengthen their existing activities and partnerships in Ukraine.
The projects were chosen through a competitive selection process: Swiss companies with a branch in Ukraine were invited to submit project proposals with a financial framework of 3 to 30 million Swiss francs that respond to an urgent need for support in Ukraine and are implemented locally by the companies. The projects were assessed on the basis of various criteria defined in advance by the Ukrainian and Swiss sides, such as relevance, development impact, technical feasibility, risk, efficient use of funds or Swissness. For the selected projects, the companies must finance at least 10 per cent of the project costs themselves. The final selection was made together with the Ukrainian government in accordance with Ukraine’s needs.
