Greater legal certainty in plant breeding
Patent rights in the field of plant breeding will now have to be disclosed. This will give breeders greater certainty when breeding new varieties. On 9 September 2026, the Federal Council took note of the consultation results and adopted the dispatch on the amendment of the Patent Act for submission to Parliament.
