Matter 26.4093: Adaptations to drought

· Bundesklar Redaktion

The current drought clearly shows that adaptations are needed in summer grazing areas in order to ensure long-term management. It must be expected that water availability will also pose a challenge in the coming years. It is therefore necessary to act decisively now. If this is not done, there is reason to fear that numerous summer grazing areas will be abandoned and thus left to reforestation and scrub encroachment, with consequences for biodiversity, the landscape and tourism. The risk of forest fires, and therefore also the fight against forest fires, will in future be a major challenge! Water lagoons could also be used, among other things, as additional firefighting water reserves! The Federal Council is requested to answer the following questions: How is it possible to simplify and at the same time provide greater support for authorising management roads for alpine pastures so that, if necessary, water can be brought more easily to the alpine pastures? What possibilities does the Federal Council see with regard to authorisation procedures for water lagoons in order to enable the creation of water reserves on alpine pastures? How is stronger financing of water storage solutions with frost-resistant cisterns possible? Is the Federal Council prepared to adjust the requirements for residual water flows in the capture of springs so that a spring can be captured at 100% and thereby prevent two springs instead of only one from having to be captured?
