An operational interruption at the Cressier (NE) oil refinery has affected Switzerland’s supply situation for petroleum products, in addition to restricted transport on the Rhine. To support the market, withdrawals from compulsory stocks of petroleum products have been authorised for the duration of the interruption. This can ensure that Switzerland’s supply of petroleum products continues to be assured.
The Delegate for National Economic Supply, Roland Pfister, has authorised withdrawals from compulsory stocks of petroleum products that are limited in time and quantity: from 8 to 20 September, up to 30'000 m³ of diesel fuel and 30'000 m³ of petrol may be withdrawn. For both products, this represents less than 3 per cent of compulsory stock levels.
Should the supply problems persist for longer, further withdrawals may be authorised. The quantities withdrawn must be returned to storage within six months of the end of the measure.
