The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the EFTA states and Kosovo increases legal certainty and predictability for bilateral economic exchange and improves access for Swiss goods and services to the Kosovar market. All current Swiss exports to Kosovo will be exempt from customs duties, in some cases subject to transitional periods. In 2025, bilateral trade in goods amounted to around CHF 175 million.

Free Trade Agreement with Kosovo to enter into force on 1 October 2026
The Free Trade Agreement between the states of the European Free Trade Association EFTA (Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) and the Republic of Kosovo will enter into force on 1 October 2026. On 2 September 2026, the Federal Council adopted the necessary amendments to the ordinances to implement the tariff concessions agreed in the Agreement.
