On 7 October 2026, the referendum committee submitted 66 574 signatures against the amendment of 19 June 2026 to the Federal Act on the Extension of Collective Labour Agreements (extension of minimum wages that are below cantonal minimum wages). The verification by the Federal Chancellery established that 66 006 of the submitted signatures are valid. A cantonal referendum was supported by the cantons of Neuchâtel and Ticino. As the required minimum of eight cantons was not reached, the cantonal referendum did not meet the legal requirements.
