Listeria has been detected in smoked trout fillets Nature by the brand Nautica, sold at Lidl Switzerland. A health risk cannot be ruled out. The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) recommends that the affected product not be consumed. Lidl Switzerland has immediately withdrawn the product from sale and initiated a recall.

What danger does this product pose?

An infection with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes usually runs a mild or even asymptomatic course in people with an intact immune system. In newborns, young children, elderly people, pregnant women and immunocompromised people, a range of severe symptoms with a potentially fatal outcome can develop. In pregnant women, the infection can lead to a miscarriage or the child can be born with septicaemia or meningitis. Further information: Bacteria (admin.ch)
